General Acne Tips

Whether you have acne or not, it’s important to take good care of your skin. Your skin is the largest organ of your body and the one that takes the majority of pressure from outside sources. If you were to list the number of harmful things that your skin comes into contact with each day, you might be surprised that the skin doesn’t wear down sooner. Luckily for us our skin is resilient and fully capable of dealing with numerous stresses. But it’s important not to just idly stand by while our skin does all the work. Whenever possible we should try to help our skin so that is doesn’t have a hard job, and it’s nice to give it a break once in a while. Here are some general acne tips that will come in handy when dealing with how to get rid of acne, or just maintaining good skin in the first place.

1. Drink lots of water. Water is the lifeblood for your skin…well, actually blood is the lifeblood of your skin, but water is a close second. In all seriousness you should always strive to drink as much water as you can in a day. Most experts agree that eight glasses of water a day will keep you well hydrated and it will certainly help to keep your skin cells nice and healthy. When it comes to acne tips, it doesn’t get much more basic than this.

2. Don’t smoke. Let’s just put aside all the other nasty health effects that smoking can have for a moment. When it comes to skin, smoking can have drastic effects. Your skin comes into enough toxins and pollutions on a daily basis without having to deal with all the chemicals found in cigarettes. What’s worse, these chemicals get into your bloodstream and will actually make your skin walls thinner. That means more wrinkles, drier skin, premature aging, and acne.

3. Don’t sun tan. Many people love the brown glow they get from tanning, but it certainly comes at a price. You don’t have to stay out of the sun altogether but when you go out make sure to wear sun screen. This can cause problems with acne sometimes because many sun tan lotions leave your skin feeling oily and greasy. In general it’s best to look for sun screens made by cosmetic companies since they will have your skin’s health in mind. And don’t try to cook yourself in the sun too often to get that perfect tan. Your skin can take a lot of damage, but the effects will definitely be noticeable after many years.

4. Wash your face. It might take a bit of trial and error to find the skin cleanser that works for you, but when you find the right product it is certainly worth it. A good skin cleanser should not be too abrasive not should it sap your skin of moisture. It should be gentle, clean to the touch, and free from any added perfumes or scents. Wash twice daily, once in the day and one before bed. A good skin car regime goes a long way when it comes to how to get rid of acne.

5. Get plenty of exercise and sleep. Your skin is intimately connected to your body so it only makes sense that you have to take care of the total package. A sedentary lifestyle can have a negative impact on your skin if your body becomes slow and sluggish because all the things that are supposed to happen on your face naturally get bogged down as well. And contrary to what some people believe, a little bit of sweat is good for your skin as long as you wash afterwards. It’s good to give your skin a bit of a workout by making it sweat once in a while during a decent workout. You should also keep an eye on how much sleep you get at night because your body and skin certainly need time to regenerate and heal. When it comes to how to get rid of acne, sleep is absolutely essential since this is the stage where you produce the least amount of oil on your face, and when acne blemishes clear themselves up.
